Skewered

Walt Hinchman, Former Faculty (1964-2002)

It was my second year at Pomfret and Josh Whetzel ’66 and Skip Kittredge ’66 were my dorm assistants in Upper Three. One night, I didn’t go to supper and I heard a funny noise coming from the dormitory. As I opened the hall door a projectile passed right in front of me. Shrriiiieeet, thunk! A huge hunting knife was sticking into the closed door on my left. To my right, was Kittredge’s open door. He was sitting in the back of his room practicing his knife throwing. If I’d been one step faster, I’d have been skewered.
