Searching for Answers

The world seemed to be changing before our very eyes. First there was the Space Race, with the accompanying, startling thought that we as Americans might be attacked on our own soil by the worst weapons yet discovered. We then got involved in the Black Movement or, as it was called then, the Civil Rights Movement.
These changes and others resulted in the creation of a class of 50 young men searching for new answers to the challenges all around us.
In searching we questioned many of the traditions and educational values of Pomfret. Because of this, many called our class negative. Actually, I believe we were a very positive class; we were searching for new goals — not ones previously established. It was this search shared by everyone, which made us into the strong body of students that we were.
